Undersong

A pixel-art mining game: dig toward a song buried under the mountain.

The story

Undersong is a browser game in side-on pixel cross-section, in the style of Terraria. A village digs down through seven underground worlds toward a song under the mountain, hiring miners, lighting the dark and smelting ore into better picks, and keeps digging while you are away. It is built to play on desktop or phone with no download, ready for itch.io.

The clever bit

Every tile, sprite and light in the mountain is generated in code from a seed, with Terraria-style warm and cool lighting, in a plain browser canvas with no game engine.

What it does
  • Tap or drag to dig, hire miners and light the dark
  • Village upgrades: picks, rope haul, forge and bunkhouse
  • Twelve story verses hidden through four acts
  • Idle play: the village keeps digging while you're away
  • Cave-in prestige that makes each new run faster
  • Accessibility settings for motion, text size and shape marks
