Hot Off The Press

A live-streamed prize draw where a real drum picks the winner on camera.

The story

Online prize draws often feel like a black box. Hot Off The Press sells £1 tickets for the next edition while the current one is drawn live on camera from a physical drum, digit by digit. Every ticket earns spins on a prize wheel, entry needs a skill question, and all money and odds are enforced by the server so the game can't be gamed.

The clever bit

The newspaper-meets-retro-TV design, with server-side randomness and a database trigger that refuses any wheel whose odds don't add up
